La compañía nace en 1981, hace ahora 22 años. Fue en el seno de la Universidad de La Laguna, un grupo de universitarios y profesores, sienten la necesidad de crear una compañía de teatro que acoja las inquietudes escénicas de los alumnos, pero desde la perspectiva profesional e independiente.

Desde entonces, han sido muchas las personas que han participado en el proyecto y unos pocos los que le han dado estabilidad y, sobre todo, esa profesionalidad e independencia buscadas. Así lo demuestran las aventuras escénicas recorridas. En la actualidad el grupo lo conforman estudiantes, otros hemos terminado hace tiempo y ya no nos conformamos con la experiencia en la escena, también la investigación forma parte del trabajo de Troysteatro.

En fin, desde la universidad, planteamos la investigación dramática y el teatro realizado con rigor y profesionalidad, planteando una oferta muy amplia, desde lo teórico a lo práctico, desde la escena a la docencia. Desde los montajes dramáticos a las sesiones de cuentos o animación a la lectura, todo siempre al servicio de la universidad, la sociedad y las necesidades de los espectadores.

Este recorrido, hace de Troysteatro, uno de los grupos con más historia y solera de todo el panorama dramático de las islas.

Starting from 1981 until today, this working party has lived profoundly 21 years. At the La Laguna University (Tenerife, Canary Islands) some teachers and students decided inspire a stage that brought together the scenics dreams of the students but with an independient and professional outlook.

Many and diferents persons have formed this proyect from its origin, but just a few have given stability and, specialy, the independence and profesionalism aimed. The results shows the adventure. Today, with students and profesionals educated at the University itself, the group agree to doing the work in the scene in that way, the research is at the same time another ingredient and the essence of the company.
Must be understanding clearly that the company try to combine dramatic art resarch and perfomed accuracy, joining together theory with practice, schooling and acting, studing and outcomes. They present stage desings, short stories, reading education, trying to offer a welfare to the educational and academic comunity, and at the same time, what the audience needs.
